An American investment in appliances
Whirlpool Corp. is boosting its U.S. production, which should increase its reliance on suppliers in the region.
The $60 million plant announced on April 10 will create 150 jobs in Perrysburg, Ohio, becoming Whirlpool’s 11th U.S. appliance manufacturing factory. It will provide components to other facilities in the area, including two other Ohio sites — in Clyde and Marion — that are in the midst of a $600 million upgrade announced in 2025.
“This new facility represents an evolution in American manufacturing,” Kristin Day, Whirlpool vice president of U.S. manufacturing, said in a news release. “By creating a hybrid environment where cutting-edge automation meets human ingenuity, we are not just building appliances — we are building the future domestic production for our industry.”
Benton Harbor, Mich.-based Whirlpool expects to open the Perrysburg plant later this year.
